Packing is a key part of planning a trip around the world, possibly the most important one, hence why a comprehensive packing checklist can be a lifesaver. Of course choosing the right backpack is the first step to take, and you can read more here about that.

The best way to start filling your lovely backpack with the right items is making a list. We started by surfing the internet for a packing checklist, and we soon found out that we are not alone. A lot of people have been in the same situation, and have been kind enough to share their learnings.

A part from the top line ground rules that we quickly learnt such as cotton is the enemy, and kindle is your best friend, here are some very useful articles that can help travelers as they get ready for their adventure:

Women travelers, don’t miss the Essential Female Backpacking list and check out the Ultimate Female Packing List for an All Season Round-the-World Trip. As mentioned already, my favourite travel blog for women is A Little Adriftand here is her RTW travel packing list.  And here is a good one for males.

If you like a list that you can actually tick so that it makes it easier to action on it quickly and give you the bigger picture of what you are missing, here is a good one.

Nomadic Matt, as usual has the best travel tips to share and here is what he packs for his travels.

To help you with what to avoid: here is what you can and can’t live with and here are 18 things you don’t need in your packing list.

If you are departing from London and you like more paper lists than virtual ones, we suggest you to pop by any Nomad Travel shop and grab one of these, they are amazing.
